Don't Let Me Touch The Muck!

One thing that Jenn and I really like to do during the summer is to go up the her grandparents cabin in Lava Hot Springs. There is this terrific pond a few miles away that is perfect for canoeing, for fishing, for floating on inner tubes, and for just plain swimming in. It's actually my favorite place to swim.

This pond is not one of the cleanest places to swim if you compare it to, say, a swimming pool. There are bugs, moss, fish, and various other things you would never find in the city swimming pool. Because of that fact, I only swim in the pond while wearing water shoes.

One summer Jenn got inner tubes to float on the pond so that we wouldn't have to be in all the muck. The only problem happened when we realized that we'd only brought one of the inner tubes with us. So we blew up the tube and headed to the pond, figuring that we could just take turns. It turns out that being all alone in the pond isn't all that much fun, so Jenn stayed in the tube and I floated by hanging onto the edge. One time my floating feet got to close to Jenn's hands, and she grabbed my shoe off. As my feet went back down, I brushed against some slimy moss. I grabbed harder on the inner tube and hollered out "DON'T LET ME TOUCH THE MUCK!"

Now any time we go to the pond we like to act like we are jumping into the other person's arms and yell out, "Don't let me touch the muck!" Maybe I'm weird, but it still makes me laugh. Maybe you just had to be there.....
